Morey Saint Denis 2013
Charles Thomas Morey-Saint Denis 2013 [75cl] France

Morey is sometimes ignored between its two famous neighbours, Chambolle Musigny and Gevrey Chambertin, but its wines are of equal class, combining elegance and structure. Morey St Denis, being that little bit less famous, can often provide excellent value.

The 2013 Morey Saint Denis is starting to shape up. In the bouquet red berry fruit – much more focused than a year ago – with quite delicate notes of strawberries and razzberries. On the palete well balanced with lovely midpalete fruit – good focus and length. Still some slightly stewed notes … need time to integrate fully. Charming!

From between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny in the Côte de Nuits, it very rare to find a Morey-Saint-Denis for under £30 a bottle, especially from a vintage of 2009's quality. This is very good value for an excellent red burgundy that will last for at least another 5-7 years.
