J.P. Mollet Pouilly Fume 2012 [75cl] France
Tasting notes : Lively in attack with fresh grapefruit and lemon blossom aromas. Round and full in the mouth with compelling freshness giving way to pronounced flintiness and subtle perfume in the finish.
Hand-crafted wines from Domaine Mollet-Maudry Pére & Fils
Florian Mollet is the tenth generation winemaker of Domaine Mollet-Maudry, one of the most ancient families in the Pouilly sur Loire. The Maudry family has owned the famous Clos Du Roc vineyards in Sancerre for more than 50 years. Florian took over the family practice and influenced his father, Jean-Paul to follow suit. The two have followed the careful practice of his ancestors and is passionate about the unique soil in the vineyard, which is formed by particles of freshwater-fossils and sandy marl deposits. The native Sauvignon Blanc vines produce grapes of lively aromas of flint and mineral fruits due to the terrior; a strong characteristic of the region. Entirely hand-harvested and hand-sorted, the wine is gently pressed in a pneumatic press and slowly fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats to preserve freshness.
