Mercurey 1er Cru Red Moillard 2014
Mercurey 1er Cru 2014 [75cl] France

Pinot Noir from Premier Cru vineyards of the Mercurey appellation of Burgundy. Deeper in colour and fuller in body than many Burgundy Pinot Noir's, perfectly balanced with elegant red fruit characters and more complex aromas and flavours of leather as well as earthy, gamey tones. This is a sophisticated wine for enthusiasts of red Burgundy. This red is a result of quality-focused appellation laws and excellent terroir. Low yields are essential for acquiring the rich concentration of flavours. The climate around Mercurey is considered to be of continental type, with warm, long summers and relatively dry autumn months, making for an excellent growing season and harvest period.

Tasting Notes.. Opulent blackberry and black cherry fruit aromas with intense sous-bois, violet and musk. Velvety and concentrated with good acidity. Very ripe and dense but balanced, with long musky, leathery black fruits.

Another fantastic alternative to the really pricy Burgundies on the market today. Unusually full and rich with gorgeous savoury hints of star anise, raspberries and new leather, this is a really classy drop...
