Woodstock "Little Miss Collett" Moscato 500ml

WINEMAKING 2013 was another great vintage favouring slow ripening conditions thereby giving us the opportunity to pick White Frontignac grapes early in the sea-son. This resulted in perfect balance between alcohol, natural sweetness and crisp acidity. Following pressing, fermentation was initiated and Muscat syrup was introduced adding to the texture and richness of this wine. The fermentation process was then stopped early by freezing the wine; this technique crafts a low alcohol wine with natural sweetness and effervescence. A touch of 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (0.5%) was added to inject a blush colour, which will deepen a little with time in the bottle.

THE WINE: Pale translucent pink hues. Intense musk aromas on the nose with an underlying tropical fruit character. Similar to the nose, the palate starts off with nuances of musk and rosewater, followed by star fruit and tropical banana flavours. This fruit sweetness on the mid-plate is balanced off nicely with a zingy, lemon sherbet finish. Fine beads help to fill the mouth with flavour while natural grape acids balance the fruity Muscat sweetness.

Less sugar than most Australian Moscato styles, this sophisticated wine shows appealing finesse with a balanced depth of lingering flavour.
