Dievole Chianti Classico DOCG 2021/22
Country/Region of Origin: Italy

Region: Italy, Tuscany

Grape variety: Sangiovese (90%) & 10% native Italian and local varieties (Canaiolo and Colorino)

Background: Dievole is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, not far from the historic city of Siena. The 411 hectare estate, 86 hectares of which are under vine, rests among woods, olive groves and crop-filled fields. Traditional classic grape varieties are grown, along with contempory classics and new arrivals. The first grape was harvested on the estate over 900 years ago, and today Dievole, with probably the most privileged location in Chianti Classico, is one of the most respected institutions in Italian winemaking.

Winemaking process: The grapes have been harvested by hand in baskets at the end of September - mid October and is a blend of all of Dievole’s 16 vineyards. Eighty percent of the wine is aged in the wooden vats made of French oak and 20% is aged in French and American barriques for about 12 months before bottle ageing for a further 6 months before release to market.

Tasting notes: Heady aromas of black truffle and cherry lead to a gorgeous mouthful, elegant, rich and warming. This Chianti Classico is intense deep ruby. On the nose it is fruity with aromas of cherry and plum confiture, lightly spiced with black pepper and juniper notes. Dry on the palate, it is medium-full bodied with soft tannins and good minerality.
