Region: Italy, Tuscany
Grape variety: Sangiovese (90%) 10% native Italian and local varieties (Colorino)
Background: Dievole is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, not far from the historic city of Siena. The 411 hectare estate, 86 hectares of which are under vine, rests among woods, olive groves and crop-filled fields. Traditional classic grape varieties are grown, along with contempory classics and new arrivals. The first grape was harvested on the estate over 900 years ago, and today Dievole, with probably the most privileged location in Chianti Classico, is one of the most respected institutions in Italian winemaking.
Tasting notes: Deep ruby with fruity aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and black cherry. The palate is dry, intense and structured, lightly spicy with tobacco, chocolate, coffee and vanilla notes.
Food pairing: Perfect with meat dishes and ripe cheese. For best results, decant two hours before serving.
