Tasting notes: Impenetrable in colour, emerging from the purplish reflexes are scents of black plums, blackberries, wild myrtle, cinnamon, juniper berries and green peppers. In the background the light opalescence given by resting on both large and fine lees makes it more attractive and will protect it over time. Full bodied, velvety tannins and an incredibly radiant, essential finale, definitive and progressive.

Award: 93 Points - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2022
Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot
Tasting notes: Dark plum aromas and flavours which are displayed in a ripe and juicy profile. Notes of morello cherries, fleshy mission figs and hints of brown sugar are framed with earthy impressions of iron and graphite.
Expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, vanilla bean and toasted nuts are prominent on the nose. At first taste, the supple and approachable tannins from the Merlot provide a full mouthfeel. The core is warm and smooth, balanced by notes of ripe plums and chocolate-covered cherries. Cabernet Franc in the blend uplifts the palate with cedar and fresh mint. This well-rounded, dynamic wine can be enjoyed for years to come.
Background: Arcanum is sourced primarily from the Apparita and Belvedere blocks of Cabernet Franc. With superb exposure and sandy clay soils, each year these blocks shine to produce the finest expression of the variety, and the leading wine of the estate.
Tasting notes: The dark and intense fruit aromas jump out of the glass with ripe plums, blackberries on the vine, and tones of sweet mint. The mouthfeel is full, balanced by gentle acids and rich tannins. Flavours are reminiscent of dark chocolate covered cherries and spicy black pepper. The long finish shows cigar box and cedar spice. A vintage that will age well into the next decade.
