Region: Chile, Maipo Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon Background: Santa Alicia have been producing wines in the heart of Maipo Valley since 1954. With grapes from three select communes, a state-of-the-art winery, and judicious use of the finest American and French oak barrels, we believe the wines represent the highest price/quality ratio in Chile. In 2007, they were named Chilean Wine Producer of the Year for "best overall results from a Chilean winery" in the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition in London. Santa Alicia possesses a very talented team of winemakers. Leading the team, is David González, with more than 30 years of experience. David contributes, together with his philosophy of perfection, extensive knowledge and the dedication of an artisan. For him, a glass of wine goes beyond the sensory pleasure, and turns into a bridge of communication between the art of creating a mythical concoction and its final consumers.
Tasting notes: Balance and complexity from selected grapes with extended barrel and bottle ageing. Deep cherry red in colour, a warm inviting nose of damson and cherry is followed by the gentlest texture imaginable. Aromas of prunes, chocolate, some notes of Menthol characteristic from the Valley and toasted oak are also obvious. The palate is well structured with firm tannins.
