Region: Langhorne Creek, Australia
Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Dolcetto/Lagrein
Background: A collaboration of industry veterans Ben Glaetzer, Scott Collet, Grant Tilbrook and Nick Keukenmeester who have developed Heartland into an award-winning winery, since producing the first vintage in 2001. They embrace the best Australian fruits and create wines of balance and texture with a uniquely Australian identity.
Tasting Notes: Vibrant, deep ruby in colour. A beautifully fragrant wine with black fruit characters of cherry, sweet plums and blackcurrant on the nose, with notes of chocolate and nutmeg spice. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz give this wine a rich, savoury character and good structure. A splash of Lagrein contributes spice and tannin. The tightness and structure of the Lagrein, pulls the wine together and makes this blend a perfect match with food.
Food Pairing: Goes exceptionally well with grilled and barbecued meats, rich and hearty dishes, Italian-style fare and aged cheeses.
